Will Apple/Google finally let us tap‑pay crypto directly, or is it just another buzzword?

Every year we hear rumors about native crypto integration, but we're still stuck using custodial Visa debit cards. Do you think the big tech giants will finally let us tap-to-pay straight from our wallets, or is this just more vaporware to pump the markets? Honestly, I'm tired of waiting for them to stop gatekeeping actual adoption.

not holding my breath for any major breakthroughs from Google or Apple, they're always trying to keep people in their ecosystems, so I think it'll happen when they feel it's profitable for them, not because they genuinely care about crypto adoption. We've had rumors of Apple exploring crypto integration for years and nothing's come of it, so I'm skeptical it'll ever happen.

I don't see this happening anytime soon, both Apple and Google have their own payment systems in place and aren't really looking to rock the boat, but who knows, maybe with the rise of crypto adoption we'll see them make a move. I'd love to see Tap to Pay crypto but it's probably more about integrating existing payment systems rather than opening the gates for crypto specifically.

I'm kinda skeptical about integrating crypto directly into tap-pay services, but at the same time it's been long overdue. If they do decide to implement it, I'd imagine it'll be with a partner crypto like Coinbase, which already has decent partnerships with major financial institutions. Either way, it's a waiting game at this point.

Honestly I think it's gonna take a few more years for tap-to-pay crypto to become a reality on iOS and Android, the security concerns are still a major hurdle. That being said, there are some decent workarounds like crypto debit cards that are making it possible to use our coins in the real world. Maybe Apple and Google will surprise us at their next dev conferences though, who knows.

Honestly, don't hold your breath. Apple is super strict about compliance, so they aren't gonna touch volatile assets with a ten-foot pole. We might see stablecoins eventually, but direct crypto spending is still a long way off.

Honestly, I think it’s mostly hype until regulators actually sort things out. Big Tech loves their walled gardens way too much to let us bypass their fees with direct on-chain transactions anytime soon.
