Why seasoned Bitcoin users keep falling for fresh scams: is it hype fatigue or smarter con artists?

It’s wild seeing OGs who survived 2017 still getting rekt by these obvious copycats lately. Are we just getting complacent from the bear market blues, or are the scammers actually leveling up their social engineering game? Feels like even the vets are slipping up on basic opsec these days.

I think it's both - hype fatigue can lead people to get jaded and skeptical, but that's exactly what smarter con artists are counting on. They design their scams to exploit that fatigue, presenting their fake projects as the "next big thing" or the "only chance to make up for lost time". Meanwhile, the tactics and techniques used by scammers are getting more sophisticated, making them harder to spot, even for seasoned users.

I think it's mostly complacency from handling thousands of transactions without any issues. Scammers are pros at mimicking official support now, so you just react on autopilot and get rekt.
