Why is everyone sleeping on Erlang? The concurrency is actually god-tier

Just dove into the BEAM ecosystem and the way it handles millions of concurrent processes is actually insane compared to our usual stacks. It feels like the perfect fit for high-throughput infra, yet you almost never see it mentioned in the space. Are we seriously sleeping on the best tool for the job?

Yeah I've been using it for a side project and it's crazy how well it handles concurrent requests. I've seen some Node.js projects crash with 10% the load Erlang handles with ease. Definitely worth checking out if you're building high-traffic apps.

I'm with you on this, Erlang's concurrency model is indeed super robust and scalable, but I think part of the reason it flew under the radar is its steep learning curve - the syntax and mindset takes some getting used to, but trust me, it's worth it for certain use cases. What kind of projects are you guys using Erlang for, btw?

I've played around with Erlang in the past, it's definitely got some unique concurrency benefits, but isn't it a bit of a pain to learn and set up, especially coming from languages like Node.js or Python? Still, I think it's worth checking out if you're doing any high-traffic or distributed work, that's for sure. Has anyone used it for any real-world projects?

Real talk, the BEAM VM is built different for handling millions of connections. Most people just sleep on it because the syntax looks weird compared to Rust or Go.

Legit, the actor model is built different and handles uptime like nothing else. You’d think more crypto projects would be all over it for their infrastructure needs instead of just chasing Rust hype. It's definitely a sleeper pick for high-availability systems.

Honestly, the BEAM VM is built different. It’s wild that more projects aren’t using it for high-uptime systems given how easily it scales.

It’s lowkey a hidden gem for building reliable backends. The syntax filters out the noobs, but the concurrency is unmatched when you actually need to scale.
