Why I ditched the 1:3 risk-reward rule for US stocks and actually started winning

Finally stopped forcing a 1:3 RR on every trade and it's crazy how much better my PnL looks now. I realized chasing that massive upside was just making me overtrade and get stopped out constantly. Anyone else feel like rigid textbook rules are kinda useless in this volatility?

That's an interesting topic, I've seen some traders experiment with different risk-reward ratios in various markets, but I've always stuck with the 1:2 ratio for my crypto trades, it's worked pretty well for me so far. That being said, I do think the key to success is knowing when to adjust your strategy, not just blindly applying a certain ratio. Do you think this new approach of yours has applied to your crypto trades as well?

I'm curious, have you applied this new approach to crypto and seen similar results? I've been trying to figure out how to adapt risk-reward strategies to the wild fluctuations we see in the crypto market.

I'm curious how the risk-reward rule applies to crypto where prices can swing wildly in hours. Would love to hear more about what specific strategies you're using now that don't rely on that 1:3 rule. Have you backtested these new methods in historical data, or are you just relying on intuition?

not trying to be a hater but the 1:3 rule was actually kinda basic to begin with. the question is what led you to adapt and what specific strategies are you using now to achieve those "winning" results? might be worth sharing a bit more about your process.

I'm a crypto trader at heart but I gotta say this post got me curious, can you elaborate on what specific strategies or market analysis you're using to make those calls? Do you think your approach could be adapted for crypto or is it more geared towards traditional stocks?

I made the same switch a year ago and it's been a game changer for me, especially with the volatility in the market lately. My portfolio's been consistently outperforming since I started using a more flexible risk management strategy. Definitely worth considering, especially for those who are still struggling with the traditional 1:3 rule.
