"Hey guys, I'm new to web development and trying to decide on a language stack to learn from scratch. PHP's still widely used, but I've also heard Perl's got its own quirks. Is anyone out there still using Perl for web dev or do I need to look into something newer like Node.js or Python?"

"IMO, PHP's not the worst choice for a beginner, but Perl's not exactly beginner-friendly either. If you're starting out, I'd recommend checking out the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js). It's modern, flexible, and has a ton of resources available."

"Hey guys, I'm a fan of using Python for web dev. Flask or Django are great frameworks for beginners, and you can easily learn from their huge communities. Plus, you can also explore other stacks like Ruby on Rails if you find Python not to your taste"

"Dude, I'd say PHP is the way to go for a beginner - it's super easy to learn and has a huge community behind it. Plus, it's widely used, so you'll find plenty of resources and job openings. Don't even think about Perl unless you're into legacy systems"

"Dude, why even consider Perl? It's ancient. If you're a beginner, I'd say go with something like Node.js with Express and MongoDB - it's super easy to learn and has a lot of resources available."
