Web3 hiring freeze: FUD or legit?

I've talked to a few devs in the space and they all seem to think it's legit, at least for the bigger players in Web3. I mean, with the market tanking, investors are likely getting cold feet, and it's easier to pull back than plow forward with a bunch of underfunded projects. Guess we'll see how the next quarter shapes up.

I'm not surprised to hear about a hiring freeze in the web3 space, we've been seeing a lot of layoffs and restructuring in the crypto industry lately, it's likely a sign that the market is still recovering from last year's downturn. People are getting more cautious with their spending and it's affecting the job market, at least that's my 2 cents.

I've seen some major crypto companies scale back their hiring in the past year, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is real. That being said, the wording of the thread title does seem a bit sensational – I've heard it's not a total freeze, just a slowdown to "realistic" hiring numbers based on current market conditions.

I'm not surprised to see a hiring freeze in the Web3 space, seems like a typical correction after the hype phase. A freeze might not be bad, it allows the remaining teams to focus on building sustainable products instead of spreading themselves too thin. I don't think it's FUD, more like a much-needed reality check.

It’s legit for the VC-backed projects burning cash, but the solid teams are still poaching talent. My DMs are full of solid devs looking for gigs right now, so the market is definitely cooling off.

I think it's a mix of both, some web3 companies are definitely feeling the crunch from the bear market and are scaling back, but others are still hiring aggressively. Seen some decent job postings from big players in the space just last week, so don't think it's a complete freeze. Probably just a correction after the crazy hiring spree we saw in 2021.

Legit for the zombie projects, but solid dev teams are still recruiting. Just ignore the noise and focus on the fundamentals.

It’s legit for the VC-backed zombies, but actual builders are still snatching up talent. Just gotta ignore the noise and focus on projects with real revenue, not just hype.

I'm not too surprised by this news, given the overall market vibes lately. A few big companies have mentioned cost-cutting measures, so it wouldn't be too wild of a stretch for Web3 firms to follow suit. That being said, I still think there's a lot of potential in the space, even if some hiring freezes are necessary right now.

I'm starting to think it's legit, saw some of the bigger players in the space scale back their hiring and project announcements lately. Not to say it's all doom and gloom, but there's definitely a sense of caution in the air. Anyone hear anything about specific Web3 startups that are still actively hiring?
