For those who don't know, JtR is a legendary tool that's been around since 1996, known for its speed and efficiency in cracking weak passwords. What are some of the pros and cons of using the OG password cracker?"

"Hey guys, just wanted to chime in - I've used JTR in the past for a bunch of simple password cracking tasks, and it worked like a charm. However, for anything more complex, I've found that Hashcat is a way more powerful tool, IMHO."

"Yea, I've played with John the Ripper in the past, it's a beast for cracking passwords, but you gotta be careful not to get flagged by the system for attempted login failures. The good thing is, it's free and open-source, so you can't go wrong with giving it a shot."

"Yo, just throwing in my two cents - JTR is still a solid choice for cracking weak passwords, but I'm not sure I'd trust it with anything above 8 chars. Plus, I've seen better results from newer tools like Hashcat. Anyone have experience with those?"
