Uncovering Hidden L1s: Are they the real safety net against mainstream exploits?

With all the chaos from exploits lately, I’m starting to think these under-the-radar L1s might actually be safer than the bloated giants everyone hypes. It feels like flying under the radar is the real play right now, but is that just survivorship bias? Would love to hear if anyone is actually moving bags to these smaller chains for security.

I think people are getting a bit too caught up in the idea that hidden L1s offer some kind of magic safety net. In reality, most of these protocols are still pretty new and haven't had time to put their security to the test, so I'm skeptical about their ability to hold up in a real-world exploit scenario.

I don't think L1s can be considered a safety net against mainstream exploits, as their security is often heavily reliant on the same protocols and networks they're trying to protect. Plus, if a decentralized platform is vulnerable, the whole point of decentralization is defeated when a single point of failure is a major exchange or L1. L1s are more about providing a bridge between the crypto world and mainstream finance.

Obscurity isn’t a security feature, it just means fewer whitehats watching your back. You're basically trading mainstream exploit risk for liquidity risk, which is arguably worse.

I think hidden L1s can definitely provide an extra layer of security, but we also need to consider the trade-offs in terms of scalability and usability. Been following a few projects that are experimenting with private L1s and it's interesting to see how they're navigating these challenges. Would love to hear more about the potential use cases for hidden L1s in preventing mainstream exploits.

Honestly, most of these "hidden" L1s are safer just because there's no liquidity to drain, not because the tech is bulletproof. Security through obscurity isn't a long-term play once the serious money notices them.

Most of these hidden L1s are only "safe" because hackers haven't bothered targeting them yet. Once they get some actual TVL, the exploits will definitely show up. It's basically just security through obscurity at the end of the day.

Honestly, feels more like security by obscurity than a real safety net. Less traffic means fewer hackers targeting them for now, not necessarily better code. Once a hidden gem gets popular, the exploits usually follow.
