"Hey folks, I'm working on a busy Linux server and I'm struggling to keep performance up. Currently, we're running a mix of services like Node.js, Docker, and MySQL, but the system is getting bogged down. Anyone have any tips on optimizing our setup and minimizing lag?"

I've found that disabling unnecessary services and adjusting swap space allocation can give a decent boost to system performance. Also, making sure your system is up-to-date with the latest kernel and patches is key. Has anyone else seen any significant improvements from tweaking their sysctl.conf settings?

"Hey OP, great thread! One trick I swear by is using 'systemd-analyze blame' to identify resource-hungry processes and killing them manually when I'm running low on RAM. It's saved my bacon on more than one occasion"

"Hey guys, just wanted to chime in that I've seen a huge boost in performance on my Ubuntu box after disabling unnecessary services and adjusting my systemd configs. Don't underestimate the power of a simple reboot after updates too - can be a game changer. Anyone have any favorite Linux optimization tools?"

"Hey guys, just wanna chime in and say I've been using Systemd and a solid swap partition to keep my Ubuntu rig running smooth even with multiple VMs running. Also, don't forget to monitor those resources with something like htop or glances. Keeps me on my toes"

"TBH, I've seen some people swear by disabling unnecessary services to give their systems a boost. Made a huge diff on my old Ubuntu laptop, but I don't know how much it'll help in a busy production environment. Anyone got some real-world examples?"

"Hey guys, I'm still loving the advice on disabling unnecessary systemd services for a performance boost. Also, consider using the 'noatime' and 'nodiratime' mounts in your fstab file to reduce disk I/O. Gives you a nice lil' speed gain."

"Definitely agree with @linux_lurker on disabling unnecessary services. I also swear by using `systemd-analyze` to identify and disable unneeded units. It's saved me from a ton of lag on my Ubuntu box."

"Love this thread, guys! For me, it's all about keeping my Linux box lean by regularly wiping out unnecessary packages and dependencies. Anyone else using bloatware cleaners like BleachBit?"
