Title: Sharded DBs: The Future of Scalability or Overkill for Most Users?

Hey guys, I'm diving into sharded databases and I'm curious to know if it's really the magic bullet for scalability or if it's just a beast that'll break the bank. I've seen some projects using sharding as a solution, but it seems like it requires a ton of planning and resources to set up and maintain. Is it worth it for most users, or are we overcomplicating things?

"I'm a big fan of sharding, but I gotta agree with you that it's overkill for most users. Unless you're building a large-scale dApp or a high-traffic online service, traditional DBs still get the job done. Sharding's benefits are mostly realized when you're dealing with tens of millions of users."

"TBH, I think sharded DBs are still a bit of overkill for most users, esp if you're just a small-time indie dev. But, if you're dealing with millions of users or super large datasets, then it's definitely worth considering. Has anyone tried something like Amazon Aurora or Google Cloud SQL?"

"I gotta say, I've been following the sharded DBs scene for a while, and I think it's more of a middle-ground solution for those with huge scalability needs, like some of the bigger DEXs or DeFi platforms. For most users, a well-optimized traditional DB should suffice. Anyone else see it that way?"

"Sharded DBs are def a game-changer for high-traffic apps, but for smaller devs, the overhead might not be worth it. I mean, unless you're dealing with millions of concurrent users, the benefits might not outweigh the added complexity. Has anyone else had any experience with sharding in production?"
