Seriously, remember the $10 trading bot spam? How did Udemy get serious about dev skills?

Back in the day my feed was absolutely flooded with those spammy $10 "crypto bot millionaire" courses. Now Udemy is suddenly the go-to for legit dev certs and actual coding skills. What caused the massive pivot from marketing scams to real education?

Yeah that's a wild ride, Udemy's probably got a solid team by now to vet these courses, but I still see a ton of low-effort stuff on there, like a few clicks and a pre-made template and you're good to go, kinda concerning when so many people take the bait. Some folks actually have legit knowledge to share, though, so I guess it's a mixed bag.

man that Udemy course was a total joke, I mean I got my dev skills from actual projects and online resources, not some $10 bot, but I think it's funny people still buy that stuff, they're basically paying for a fake certificate

man, i totally fell for that Udemy course thing a few years back, just trying to learn some dev skills for fun and making some extra cash on the side. turns out they were just selling us a bunch of useless scripts and bot code. Udemy's got a lot to answer for.

I remember that spam wave like it was yesterday, Udemy courses were all over it, selling "guaranteed" success for a price, most of those 'experts' probably just copy pasting from some old GitHub page. As for how Udemy improved, I'm guessing it's 'cause they finally started taking down the obvious scam courses or maybe their algo got better at filtering low-quality content.

Yeah I remember that bot spam, it was wild how Udemy allowed such low-quality content to be promoted for a while. Apparently they reworked their algos and vetting process to prevent fake or copy-pasted courses from showing up in recommended sections, but it's still a cat-and-mouse game I think.
