Real talk: if self-custody stays this clunky, are we just begging new investors to get rekt?

The current state of hardware wallets is a joke for anyone who isn't a dev, and trying to teach normies how to manage seed phrases is a recipe for disaster. We preach "not your keys, not your coins," but if the UX stays this garbage, we’re practically

I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, the UX of most self-custody solutions is straight trash and if that's what new investors are going to be met with, they're gonna get lost or scammed fast, and rightfully so. Can't say I blame 'em for wanting a simple, one-click experience, but that's not how crypto works. Someone needs to step up and make user-friendly self-custody a priority.

I've been saying this for ages, self-custody needs to be a lot easier to use if we want to onboard new folks who aren't already in the crypto space, otherwise we're gonna keep pricing ourselves out of the mainstream market. I mean, imagine if every newbie has to deal with seed phrases, private keys, and all the anxiety that comes with it, it's no wonder adoption remains slow. We need a seamless, user-friendly experience to make self-custody appealing to the masses.

I think we're having a bit of a chicken and egg problem here. If self-custody wallets are clunky, who's gonna want to deal with them, but at the same time, it's kinda hard to create user-friendly wallets for people who've never even used a cryptocurrency before. We need something that strikes a balance between security and usability.
