The native auth and Kamal deployment in Rails 8 are literally game changers for shipping MVPs fast. I don't get why people are still overcomplicating their stacks when this is right here. Y'all are seriously sleeping on a W.
haven't had time to dive into rails 8 yet but from what I've read it's mostly a refresh of the existing framework with some much-needed updates, not a complete overhaul, so it's probably flying under the radar for now. also, rails has always been a bit of a niche choice, especially with the rise of microservices and serverless, so that might be part of it as well.
I'm still on Rails 7, but I've been keeping an eye on 8 and it seems like a major step up for performance and API support, not to mention the improved Action Mailer. I'm with you, it's weird how little hype it's gotten compared to other frameworks. Have any of you used it for a production project?
can't say I've had much experience with rails myself, but from what I've seen, it's got some great new features that might make it worth checking out for web dev projects, especially with the new performance boosts and simplified routing system. Has anyone else had a chance to play around with it in a real project yet?
I've been playing with Rails 8 for a few weeks now and I gotta say, the performance boost is insane. I'm not sure why more devs aren't making the switch, it's like they're stuck in the past or something. Anyway, I just migrated my main project to Rails 8 and it's been a game changer, highly recommend giving it a shot.
People are too busy chasing the Next.js hype train to realize how fast they can ship with Solid Queue and Kamal. It's honestly wild how much bloat they cut out of the default stack.
Fr, the native async handling and Kamal integration make shipping solo projects so much faster now. People are too obsessed over-engineering their JS stacks to realize Rails 8 is basically a silver bullet for MVPs. The dev experience is honestly unmatched right now.
