Quantum Proof Wallets: Are We Racing Against Time to Futureproof Our Coins

With the quantum hype getting real lately, I’m paranoid our stacks are basically sitting ducks. Are devs actually shipping post-quantum updates fast enough, or are we about to get rekt? Feels like we’re in a serious race against time to futureproof our bags before the tech catches up.

I'm a bit skeptical about the idea of quantum proof wallets, to be honest. I mean, we're still figuring out the implications of Shor's algorithm on our current cryptography, and now we're talking about future-proofing our wallets? I'd love to see some concrete proposals before we start hyping up solutions.

I think it's safe to say that quantum-proof wallets are a non-negotiable aspect of the crypto industry moving forward, especially considering the exponential growth rate of quantum computing power. As we speak, some wallet developers are already working on integrating post-quantum cryptography, so it's just a matter of time before this becomes mainstream. Quantum computing advancements won't magically halt, so we need to stay on top of this without letting the perfect become the enemy of the good.

I'm curious to know if anyone's researched the actual feasibility of implementing quantum-proof wallets for smaller cryptocurrencies, like some of the altcoins we're all invested in. If it's a case of having to pick and choose which coins to future-proof, I'd love to hear some thoughts on the criteria for selection. I've heard rumors of a few companies working on post-quantum crypto but I don't know much more than that.

I think we're getting ahead of ourselves here, to be honest. Most of us still rely on basic hardware wallets which aren't being cracked left and right, let alone quantum proof ones. We need to focus on getting the basics right before going all-in on hypothetical future security.
