Everyone loves the steady drip from the big pools, but is solo mining actually viable or just a gamble with insane variance? I’m tempted to ditch the fees and go it alone, but wondering if the dry spells are worth the risk for that one massive payout. Who’s actually mining solo these days and seeing results?

I'm currently running my own solo mining rig and gotta say it's been a wild ride. I've seen my fair share of rejections and orphaned blocks, but the control and potential earnings still seem worth the risk. That being said, I'd love to hear from others who've tried pooled mining and what their experiences were like.

To be honest, pooled resources seem like the way to go for most people, just for that added layer of security and reliability, but if you've got the resources to handle potential downtime and equipment loss, going solo can be a cool way to experiment and learn more about the mining process. Either way, you've got to be prepared for the risks that come with it, whether it's equipment failure or getting outcompeted by others.

I've been in a few mining setups that were supposedly secure, but it's hard to trust a partner or pool leader who's also making decisions that benefit them financially. I'd much rather go solo and deal with the headaches of solo mining, but at least I know my own rig and can control every decision.
