"Lowkey just had to spark a debate. PHP and PERL were both huge players back in the day, but which one still holds up in 2024? I'm curious to see who's still using these OG languages and what their experiences are."
Lol, I gotta give a shoutout to PHP for all the web dev work I've done over the years. It's not the most sexy language, but it gets the job done and has a huge community. PERL's still got its uses, but I'm not sure I'd call it "ancient" - it's still actively used in some niches.
Haha, come on guys, this is 2024 not 1999. Neither PHP nor PERL is 'ancient' in the sense they're slow or outdated, but they're certainly not the most modern choices. If you're looking for something more modern, Python would be a better option imo.
"Yea, I'm gonna have to side with PHP on this one. As a dev, I've seen PHP get a bad rep, but it's still a beast for web development and easily maintainable. Plus, with all the frameworks available, it's hard to go wrong."
Yooo, I gotta go with PHP on this one. It's still got its uses, especially in the web dev space, and has some killer frameworks like Laravel that make it a champ. Can't say the same for Perl, fam.
