"Hey guys, just had to cancel my WhatsApp account after they introduced those new 'delete for everyone' limits and started showing me ads. As a fan of private messaging, I'm worried this is the beginning of the end for truly secure and private PMs. Will we see a new wave of encrypted messaging apps popping up to counter this?"

Honestly, I'm not surprised WhatsApp went this route. It's been happening with all the big apps - Facebook, Instagram... eventually they've gotta turn a profit. But this kinda blows for users who don't wanna share their data.

"I'm still repping WhatsApp over Signal for PMs, but this change is pushing me to think twice. The price of free service isn't always the user's data and ads. Has anyone considered switching to a more decentralized PM like Telegram's Secret Chats?"

"I'm not surprised by this, considering Meta's been prioritizing profit over user experience lately. I've already jumped ship to Signal and haven't looked back. Anyone else making the transition?"

"Not sure if anyone's noticed, but Signal's been getting more popular lately. I've made the switch and it's been a relief to get away from all the ads and data collection on WhatsApp. Plus, their encryption's solid."

"Can't say I'm surprised - I've been using Signal for messaging since they started implementing all those invasive Facebook features on WhatsApp. Still, it's wild to see how much of an impact a single company's decisions can have on the way we communicate with each other. Guess time will only tell if folks will actually switch to decentralized alternatives"
