Hey guys, newb here. Just trying to wrap my head around crypto terms and I was wondering if anyone could break down the difference between a fork and a hard fork? From what I've read, it seems like a fork is when a new chain is created (like Bitcoin Cash), but is a hard fork a specific type of fork or is it a different concept altogether?

"Lol, don't even get me started on these terms. To me, the main difference is that a hard fork is basically like a total reset, whereas a soft fork is more like an update. Think of it like Windows 10 vs. a service pack, and you're good to go."

"For those who are new here, a fork is basically a new version of the existing blockchain, like Litecoin coming from Bitcoin. The key difference is that a hard fork, on the other hand, is a drastic change that requires all nodes on the network to upgrade to the new version, like Ethereum's switch to proof-of-stake."
