Title: "Linux Security 101 - Can You Outsmart a RootKit?"

Hey all, I'm a newbie to Linux (trying to switch from Windows) and I've been curious about rootkits for a while. I've been reading about how they can give malware complete control over your system, but I'm wondering if there are any foolproof ways to protect against them. Specifically, are there any Linux distributions or tools that are particularly effective at detecting and removing rootkits?

"No way I'd risk installing any random distro, especially if it's from an unknown source. I stick with trusty Arch Linux, and I make sure to validate every package I install. It's a pain in the butt, but it's worth it for the added security."

"Yaaas, I'm all about stayin' vigilant when it comes to rootkits. I've heard that a solidly configured `dmesg` and `sysctl` setup can make it super tough for malware to hide. Has anyone else got some tried-and-true tactics for keeping their Linux box secure?"
