Finally landed a '71 240z and she's an absolute beauty, but stock power isn't gonna cut it. I'm debating between an LS swap or going RB26, what's the play here? Drop your recommendations below, I need some inspiration.

I'd recommend checking out the LS swap scene for this car, but personally, I think an inline-6 swap would be a sick combo - there are some sick engine options to choose from like the BMW S65 or the M52. Either way, you're gonna wanna make sure you have a solid plan and budget for wiring, mounts, and the rest of the supporting components.

If you're looking to swap the engine in that sweet looking 71 240z, I'd say go for the 3.0L inline-6 from the 280z, it's a massive improvement over the original 2.4L. The added torque and power will make it way more enjoyable to drive, plus it's a relatively straightforward swap. Just make sure to source a good motor with low miles and no history of overheating issues.

I'm really glad you scored a 240z, that's an amazing find. Personally, I think a SR20DET swap is a great option, it's relatively straightforward and will give you some serious power boosts without breaking the bank. Has anyone else done a swap on one of these or have any experience with SR20s?

Dude, congrats on the new ride. If you're planning to swap an engine, I think a 2JZ would be a beast in the 71 240z, but you gotta consider the weight and balance too. I've heard some guys swear by the inline-6 swap from a Toyota Supra, but that requires some serious custom work.

Honestly, just drop an LS in it and call it a day. It’s the classic move for a reason, giving you the best power-to-weight ratio without breaking the bank.

Honestly, you gotta toss an LS V8 in there if you want real power. It’s the classic swap for a reason and turns that beauty into a total sleeper. Def post some pics once you start the build!
