Everyone’s chasing zero-fee DEXs like it’s the golden metric, but aren’t we just cannibalizing network security for a short-term pump? It feels like a race to the bottom where validators end up getting wrecked. I’m curious what you guys think about models that balance low costs without completely gutting the fee market.

I think the zero-fee trade frenzy is definitely a factor, but it's also just one piece of the puzzle. The way fees were structured in the first place was pretty inefficient and unsustainable for smaller players, so it's not surprising that something's gotta give. We need alternative revenue streams that don't rely on transaction fees, but also reward liquidity providers and market makers fairly.

I think it's more about the unsustainable business models of some exchanges trying to outdo each other with zero-fee trades rather than a demand for true zero-fee trades. Meanwhile, sustainable alternatives are popping up everywhere, some of which focus on community-driven governance and others on using different revenue streams not based on transaction fees.

Zero fees are basically a trap since you end up paying for it through slippage or MEV anyway. Projects can’t survive on hopes and dreams forever, so we need a model that actually pays for security. Stop chasing free rides if you want the chain to last.
