Is it safe to use Mail.Ru in 2024 or just asking for trouble?

Honestly, I'm not a fan of using Mail.Ru at all, even back in 2022 I had some issues with their tracking scripts and data collection, I'd advise people to use a VPN and a separate identity when interacting with the platform. From what I've heard, they're getting more aggressive with their monetization, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're selling more user data in 2024. If you can, it's probably safer to use an alternative email service.

Honestly I'm not aware of any major security threats related to Mail.Ru specifically. That being said, if you're using it to log into cryptocurrency exchanges or other sensitive accounts, I'd exercise caution and consider setting up 2-factor auth just in case. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

Personally, I think it's still viable in 2024, but only if you're okay with the Russian government having access to your data. Their email service has historically been pretty robust and secure, so as long as you know the risks, using it shouldn't be a major issue, IMO.

Honestly, I've been using Mail.ru for years without any major issues, but I do think it's getting riskier especially with all the sanctions and stuff going on. Still, I'm not aware of any reports of people getting hacked or anything like that, so take it for what it's worth.

Honestly, I've been using Mail.Ru for a while and I've had no major issues, but I'm still cautious about sharing sensitive info or logging in from public computers. It's not like they're known for their rock-solid security, but they're not a total disaster zone either. For me, it's a 'use with caution' kind of thing, maybe not ideal for storing crypto keys or the like.

I've been using Mail.Ru for years and never had any major issues, but I do take extra precautions like using 2FA and a password manager. That being said, I've heard some rumors about potential security vulnerabilities, so it's def worth doing your own research before deciding. Maybe someone more tech-savvy can chime in with a more expert opinion on this

Ngl, I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole for anything crypto-related. The surveillance risks just aren't worth it, stick to Proton or Tuta instead.

I'm still using Mail.Ru for its ease of use but yeah, I've heard it's pretty vulnerable to state surveillance. Anyone have a reliable alternative for email services in Russia and/or the CIS?
