Is a pay‑to‑play chess token model actually fair, or just a fancy pump‑and‑play scheme?

seriously, what’s up with these new chess drops requiring tokens just to sit down at the board? i’m trying to figure out if there’s any real utility long-term or if it’s just a shiny wrapper to dump bags on normies. feels like gatekeeping a free game just to juice the price action.

Honestly, I think the whole pay-to-play chess token model stinks of a pump-and-dump scheme, where whales are buying up tokens just to artificially inflate the price. It's tough to call it fair when casual chess enthusiasts like us are being left out in the cold, unable to join games or tournaments unless we buy into the token. It reeks of exploitation, if you ask me.

I'm not sure how fair a pay-to-play chess token model is, but it sounds like just another way for devs to get rich quick off unsuspecting players. Unless the token is actually tied to something tangible like a percentage of revenue or prize pools, it's hard to see how it's anything more than a clever cash grab.

Feels like a liquidity trap disguised as a game, honestly. If you have to buy the token just to make a move, the only winner is the dev wallet dumping on you. Hard pass.

Honestly, it feels like a cash grab disguised as e-sports unless the token utility is actually solid. If the prize pool depends on new money flowing in, that’s just a Ponzi with a bishop. I’m treating it as a quick flip, nothing more.

Honestly feels like a liquidity trap disguised as "skill-based earnings." If the prize pools depend entirely on new bagholders buying in to play, it’s not a game, it’s a pyramid scheme.

I've been following this project for a while and honestly I'm skeptical, the pay-to-play model just seems like a way to extract money from casual players. The devs claim it's fair because the tokens have utility, but it feels like a thinly veiled pump-and-dump to me. Has anyone actually done the math on whether playing is profitable without just flipping the tokens?

Honestly, unless the token has real utility outside the game, it feels like a total cash grab. It's just gonna end up favoring whales while casual players get priced out.
