Title: GPS Alternative? - Exploring Decentralized Navigation Solutions

Hey fellow tech enthusiasts, I wanted to start a thread discussing the potential for decentralized navigation solutions. With the likes of Garmin and TomTom dominating the market, I'm curious to know if there are any alternative GPS technologies that prioritize user data ownership and security. Has anyone heard of or experimented with blockchain-based navigation systems or other decentralized alternatives?

"Y'all, I think we're sleeping on the power of blockchain-based navigation systems like Navtech. Their decentralized approach would essentially make GPS vulnerable to cyber attacks obsolete. Just imagine not having to rely on a central authority for location data"

Just came across an open-source GPS alternative that caught my eye - it's called "OpenStreetMap" (OSM), but they're actually building a decentralized protocol called "Routing Protocol" (RP) which looks promising. Anyone tried it out?

"Yo, I've been following some of the decentralized GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) projects like GeoDB and NavCoin. They're trying to create a more secure and community-driven alternative to traditional GPS. Looks promising, but still in its early stages."
