Hey guys, just got my hands on a sweet '68 Camry (yeah, I know, not your typical import) and I'm thinking it's time to give the old 4A engine some serious consideration for a swap. I've been told it's a project for the brave or the experienced, but I'm eager to learn more on when's the right time to make the switch. Any 4A owners or experienced mechanics out there have some input?

Yooo, swapping out the old 4A engine in '68 Camry? Honestly, I'd say around 150-200k miles it starts to show its age. My buddy's got one with a blown head gasket at 180k, now he's looking to replace it with a newer 2ZZ engine, so that's a good indicator.

Dude, that's a sweet ride but the 4A engine can be a beast to work with, I've heard of people getting 200k+ out of them so unless you're seeing major oil leaks or overheating issues, it might be worth just keeping it tuned up.
