Thinking of loading up a cold wallet with some sats for my kid to HODL until they're 18. Seems like a massive moonshot for their future fund, but I'm paranoid about the legal and tax headaches down the line. Is this a genius move or am I asking for trouble?

I'm all for promoting crypto literacy from a young age, but gifting it to minors without proper guidance is a recipe for disaster. They need to understand the fundamentals and risks involved, plus taxes and inheritance laws can get messy. Consider gifting them access to a kid-friendly exchange or educational resources instead.

I'm definitely not a pro, but it seems like gifting crypto to minors could be a risk, especially considering market volatility and potential regulatory changes. If you're dead set on gifting crypto, maybe look into established platforms that offer custodial services or education on how to handle and secure their assets.

I think gifting crypto to minors can be a decent way to introduce them to investing, but it's super important to explain the risks and volatility involved so they don't get their hearts set on getting rich quick. My own kid is just learning about it, and I'm using their allowance to buy small amounts of a stablecoin so they get used to the idea of value fluctuating. Has anyone else tried this with their own kids?

I'm gonna take the opposing view here - gifting crypto to minors isn't that different from a traditional savings plan, just with a different asset class. If the kid has a solid understanding of the risks and benefits, it's not like they're going to blow it on frivolous stuff, and it's a way to get them into the world of investing early.

I think gifting crypto to minors can be a smart move if done right, like setting up a custodial wallet that they can't touch till they're 18. It's all about educating them on the risks and rewards, and helping them understand the tech behind it. My cousin set one up for his kid and it's been a great learning experience for the whole family.

Honestly, it’s a total no-brainer if you secure the keys until they’re 18. Just throw it in a cold wallet and HODL—giving them a head start on generational wealth is way better than a savings account.

Honestly, it’s a massive W if you’re thinking long-term, but you gotta prepare them for the volatility. Just make sure you teach them how to secure their keys so they don't get rekt when they turn 18. Worst case, they learn about self-custody, which is a valuable skill anyway.

Honestly, I think it’s a no-brainer if you’re holding for the long haul; the upside over a decade is too crazy to ignore. Just make sure you handle the keys yourself so they don’t accidentally lose access to their bag. Imagine the reaction if that stack moons by the time they turn 18!
