"Ugh, just read through this thread and I've got a similar story - client took 5 months to pay me after a project that was finished to perfection. They just lost touch and stopped responding, I had to threaten to report them to Upwork's payment protection before I got my money. Lesson learned, always send a formal invoice with clear payment terms"
