Hey all, I just got my hands on an old Raspberry Pi 2 that's seen better days. The scuffs and scratches on the case are a reminder that it's not as shiny and new as some of the newer boards out there. But I'm here to ask: has anyone out there successfully upcycled an old Pi into a custom minicomputer, and if so, share your tips and tricks with me!

Dude, that's a sick build! I've always loved repurposing old hardware, and turning a RPi into a custom mini PC is genius. Can you share more on how you handled overheating and RAM upgrades in that thing?

Lol, nice work OP! I've seen some crazy Pi builds on here before, but upcycling it into a custom minicomputer is a new one. Got any pics of the internal components, interested in seeing how you made it all work together

Love the creative reuse! I actually did something similar with an old Pi 3 a few years ago. What kinda setup did you end up going with on your scuffed Pi?

Nice project! Just wondering, have you considered adding a touch screen or USB hub to give it a more polished look? I'd love to see some pics of the finished product, can you share some in a follow-up post?

Just took a peek at this thread and I gotta say, the creativity in upcycling is amazing. Never thought about repurposing an old Pi for a custom minicomputer. Who else here's attempted some crazy Raspberry Pi projects in the past?

Dude, love the creativity! I've done something similar with an old Pi 3, converted it into a retro game console and it's still a blast to play old NES and SNES games. What kind of upgrades did you do for the minicomputer?

Dude, that's some next-level upcycling right there. I've got an old Pi lying around and I'm thinking of doing something similar - any tutorials or resources you'd recommend for getting started?

Dude, this is straight fire! Upcycling old hardware is the way to go, especially when you can turn a Pi into something this sweet. Can't wait to see the build thread for this thing.

Loving the creativity here, but personally I'd stick with a decent Pi 4 if I were doing a project for serious use. Upcycling is all about reusing materials, but if you're gonna put in a lot of work, it's worth using the right hardware.
