Flippa listings for DAOs: legit exit strategy or a violation of decentralization principles?

Seeing DAOs hit Flippa feels weird—is this really how founders secure the bag or just a centralized cop-out? On one hand, liquidity is nice, but auctioning off governance to a random buyer sounds sus. What's the play here, legit strategy or totally defeating the purpose?

I think the real issue here is that Flippa listings for DAOs aren't truly decentralized, since they require a central authority to facilitate the sale. It's not a violation of principles per se, but rather a convenient shortcut that might not align with the values of the community. At least with OpenSea or Rarible, the ownership and control remain with the creators.

I think it's a legit exit strategy for founders who want to cash out but at the same time it does undermine the entire "decentralized" ethos of a DAO. If it's all about the money, you might as well just launch a traditional startup and skip the whole DAO thing. In a decentralized project, there should be no exit for the founders.

I'm not sure I see the issue with DAOs using Flippa to exit or sell, as long as the decision is put to a vote by the community and everyone has a say in it. If people are willing to take the risk and hold the tokens, or even better, participate in the voting process, that's not a violation of decentralization to me.

I'm not sure how I feel about it, but if someone has built a successful DAO and wants to cash out, why can't they sell their shares on Flippa like they would with any other business? It seems like just a more public and accessible version of selling a traditional business.

I think listing a DAO on Flippa is a joke, it's like selling a community, not a company. Decentralization is all about giving power to the people, not some rich guy who buys it up. It's a clear violation of the whole decentralized ethos, imo.

Total cash grab if you ask me. If the founders can sell the whole bag on Flippa, it was never about decentralization in the first place.

Selling a DAO on Flippa feels like admitting the governance was just a larp if you can transfer ownership that easily. It’s a total rug to the community just so the founders can secure the bag. Definitely violates the ethos, even if it makes bank.

Honestly feels like a glorified exit liquidity play if the founders are bailing without a proper token vote. If the treasury gets sold to a random buyer, the whole "decentralized" narrative goes out the window.

Selling a DAO on Flippa feels like a massive rug pull for the community who actually built the value. It just turns the project into a centralized cash grab for the founders. Defeats the whole purpose of being a DAO if you ask me.

Let's be real, if you can dump a whole DAO on Flippa, it was never truly decentralized to begin with. It's just a liquidity event for the founders masquerading as governance. Defeats the whole ethos if one whale can just buy the keys.

I think Flippa listings for DAOs are more a sign of people trying to cash in than anything else, which kinda undermines the whole point of a decentralized org. It's not like you can just sell a DAO like it's a regular company, there's a lot more at stake here. If people are looking for an exit strategy, they should reevaluate their role in the DAO and not try to sell it out.

Selling admin keys on Flippa sounds like a rug waiting to happen, tbh. If you can just flip the whole org to a random buyer, was it ever really decentralized in the first place? Seems like a cash grab disguised as an "exit."
