Title: DIY EV Conversion on a Budget: Worth the Risk or a Recipe for Disaster?

Hey fellow tech enthusiasts, I recently stumbled upon some DIY EV conversion kits online that seem crazy affordable - like, under $5k cheap. While the idea of saving thousands on a used EV is enticing, I'm concerned about the potential risks involved. Has anyone else considered or attempted a DIY conversion - what were the results?

"Dude, I've done a DIY conversion on my old Prius and it's been a wild ride. The cost savings were def worth it for me, but I did lose a day's worth of progress due to a wiring snafu. Just make sure you know what you're gettin' yourself into before takin' the plunge."

I've seen some wild DIY EV conversions going on in this community, but if you can scrounge up a decent donor vehicle and do your research, it might just be worth it. I've heard stories of guys converting old Teslas to be more fuel-efficient, and I'm curious to see if anyone has done something similar with a budget-friendly vehicle like a Leaf or a Bolt. Anyone have any experience with these types of conversions?

"I'm all for DIY conversions, but I gotta agree with the cautious crowd - if you're not a pro, it's a whole lotta risk for a potentially big bill when something goes wrong. I've seen some sweet conversions online, but I'd want to do my research and maybe even take some online courses before tackling it myself."

"I've done a similar conversion on my old Honda Civic and it's been a wild ride. The risk is real, but if you're willing to put in the time and effort, it can pay off. Just make sure to do your research and follow proper safety protocols, or you'll end up like me, sleeping in the garage with a 12-pack of jumper cables"

Y'all thinking of switching to EV? I did it last year on my old Civic and it literally saved me $1k a month on fuel – the conversion itself was ~$3k and was actually pretty smooth. Just be sure to research thoroughly and don't cut corners, safety-wise.
