Decentralized Autonomy vs Convenience: Is Onboarding to Web3 Killing the Point of Web3

Every time I see a dApp pushing Google logins, it feels like we’re missing the whole point of self-custody. Yeah, we need better UX to onboard the normies, but at what cost? It’s getting harder to tell the difference between Web3 and Web2 with extra steps.

I think the point of Web3 is getting lost in all the 'decentralized' buzz, people still want a easy, accessible experience, so why can't we have a balance between onboarding and actual decentralization, rather than one being sacrificed for the other? Some of these newer platforms are finally figuring this out, by making the onboarding process seamless while still maintaining the security and autonomy we're looking for.

I think people are getting hung up on the wrong thing here - Web3 is about autonomy, but onboarding doesn't have to be some soul-sucking experience, we just need to find a balance between user-friendliness and decentralization.
