"Yo fellow devs, just had to share a war story from our recent db scaling debacle. Went from 0 to hero with our MySQL instance, but mostly hero - as in, our poor DBA had to deal with some major growing pains. We went from 1G RAM to 16G overnight, and let's just say it's been a wild ride trying to optimize things"

"Been there, done that. Our MySQL instance was handling ~200k queries per sec just fine until we hit 1.5 million concurrent users in a single day. Long story short, it ended up on a custom sharded cluster within the week"

"Been there, done that. Had to scale a MySQL DB for a crypto trading bot and it was a nightmare. Ended up using AWS Aurora and it's been a game-changer"

"Dang, I feel your pain. We went through a similar ordeal with one of our clients who was scaling an e-commerce site. Ended up switching to PostgreSQL and never looked back"

"OMG, been there, done that. Upgraded to MariaDB and my db load decreased by 60% overnight. Life saver, trust me"

"yikes, I felt that DB lag pain once, had to scale from like 10k users to 100k overnight . Ended up sharding tables and adding a load balancer, huge pain but at least we didn't have to switch to a completely new DB setup like some people mention in the thread"
