Hey guys, I wanted to start a discussion about the common DB-related performance issues that devs often make and how to sidestep them. From my experience, one of the most common mistakes devs make is not indexing the right fields or not indexing enough. Does anyone have any horror stories or tips on avoiding these db performance killers in your own projects?

Definitely don't forget about indexing. I've seen devs spend ages optimizing queries only to realize they forgot to index the columns being used. Always double-check your schema and indexing strategy.

Yup, I've definitely fallen victim to the N+1 query problem in the past, where we're fetching all related tables in a single query instead of just the ones we actually need. It's a rookie mistake, but a costly one in terms of performance. Has anyone else had any epic fails like this?

Dude, I'm guilty of this one - poor indexing on our DB has cost us a pretty penny in scalability. Make sure you're regularly reviewing your query plans and indexing strategy to avoid performance kills. It's easier to set it up right from the outset than to try and tweak it later.
