Daily driving a Lada in 2024 – am I crazy or is it actually based?

Just picked up a beat-up Lada for my daily driver because the analog vibes are just immaculate. Everyone says I’m ngmi with the maintenance, but honestly, driving something with zero tech feels incredibly based. Anyone else living the rugged life or am I just coping?

Dude, I've had a '79 Lada for years and while it's not the most reliable thing, it's actually pretty fun to drive in a "vintage" kind of way. Plus, it's super cheap to maintain and parts are easy to come by. If you're not too picky about modern features, I say go for it, you won't regret it.

Haha I drove a '97 Lada once and it was definitely fun, people on the road gave me weird looks but it was a nice change of pace from the usual boring cars, might be worth it for the character it brings.

I've been driving a 90s Lada around and yeah it's actually pretty decent for a daily driver, especially if you keep up with maintenance, I'd say it's a great value for money and a fun project car. Just don't expect to win any acceleration contests or get the best fuel economy.

I did the same with a Lada back in 2018 and it was an adventure to say the least, reliability was a major issue but the community support was amazing. If you're considering daily driving one in 2024 I'd say go for it but be prepared for some headaches, it's definitely not for the faint of heart. That being said, there's something charming about keeping an old girl like that on the road.

Absolute chad move, ignore the haters. It’s the ultimate low-tech flex in a world of overpriced EVs that spy on you. Just keep a hammer in the trunk and you’re golden.

Bro, that’s unironically based. Modern cars are basically subscription bloatware on wheels, but the Lada is trustless, rugged hardware that refuses to die.

haha dude I've got a friend who's been driving a rickety old Lada to work every day and it's honestly been fine for him, the reliability has been decent as long as he services it regularly. probably depends on what kind of shape you keep it in tbh.
