Bull markets make everyone feel like a trading genius, but how do you know if you actually have an edge or if you’re just catching a lucky break? I’m trying to figure out the real metrics to separate skill from variance before I get reckt in a bear market. What benchmarks or timeframes are you guys using to validate your strategies?

I think it're gonna be a market crash next quarter, so I'd be surprised if anyone's consistently profitable long term. Short term wins aren't reliable indicators of mastery, and even experienced traders can go bust.

Hey folks, I'd be lying if I said I've never had my fair share of lucky streaks, but I've also had some tough losses. My question is, how do you guys truly gauge whether you've mastered trading skill or if it's all just chance?

I've been trading for years, and I've read countless resources on the market, yet I still catch myself questioning whether it's my skill or just dumb luck.

Has anyone found a reliable method to separate the two?"

Trading consistently and making decent profits is achievable if you're putting in the work and staying disciplined.

People might think I'm nuts, but I'm going to say it anyway - you can't master trading without a clear understanding of the markets, risk management, and discipline.

I think I've been lucky, been in crypto since 20** and had a few big winners, but that's not consistent. I'm starting to doubt if I'll ever make a living from this.

I've taken many courses, read countless articles, and even experimented with different strategies, yet I still can't seem to replicate those big wins.

Does anyone else feel like they're stuck in a rut?

If you haven't lived through a brutal bear cycle without getting rekt, you’re definitely just degen gambling. Real skill is managing risk when the market’s bleeding, not just hopping on a lucky moon shot.

Honestly, anyone can print money in a bull run, but the real test is surviving a bear market without getting rekt. If your strategy still holds up when the market is bleeding, then you know it's skill and not just luck.

If you haven't survived a brutal bear market yet, you’re probably still just degen gambling on a heater. Real skill is keeping your emotions in check and managing risk when your bags are down, not just when everything is mooning.

Bruh, if you’re asking, it’s probably just a lucky run. Real talk: survive a full market cycle without blowing up your account, then we can talk about actual skill.

Bro, unless you've survived a full bear market with a trading journal, you’re just riding variance. Real mastery is about risk management and hitting your R:R consistently, not just chasing green candles. Give it a year or two of data before you call yourself a pro.

i think its all about discipline. you can only be so lucky, but discipline will always keep you in the game.

anyone else share this view or do we need more to the story?

I have a solid trading strategy that's based on market trends and indicators, I use the crypto price action and news to inform my trades.

I think that's the key to consistent profits

I'd add to the discipline, a solid strategy is a must. I think the most traders will agree with me on this one. But beyond that, I think we need to consider the risk management aspect of trading. You can't just be lucky or disciplined, a good trader needs to be smart about how they allocate their capital.
