Central Banks Racing to Issue Digital Currencies But Are Citizens Even Asking For This

Every central bank is suddenly in a huge rush to drop their own digital currencies, but honestly, has the average person on the street ever actually asked for this? It feels like total government overreach and a solution in search of a problem. Anyone else feel like this is just about surveillance?

I think it's a classic case of them trying to push a solution to a problem that nobody really asked for. People are happy using their smartphones and credit cards to make transactions, why fix what ain't broke? The real question is, what's behind this sudden rush into CBDCs - is it genuine interest in improving the financial system for citizens or just a way to exert more control?

I think a lot of the push for CBDCs is coming from the financial elite who want to maintain control and surveillance over the economy, rather than any actual demand from the average citizen. Like, who needs the government keeping tabs on their transactions? It's the same old story of the powerful telling us what's best for us.

I think the main issue here is that most people aren't aware of the implications of central bank digital currencies, and that's because CBDCs are being designed to serve the interests of governments and financial institutions, not the citizens. It's all about centralization and control, and that's the last thing we want in a world where cryptocurrency exists to decentralize power.

I'm not sure why everyone keeps framing this as an either/or situation, like it's either central banks issuing digital currencies or nothing at all. Honestly, I'd love to see a decentralized option available for people who want it, rather than the CBs forcing this down our throats.

Honestly I think this is just a cash grab by banks to control the narrative and maintain their power. I've yet to meet someone who genuinely believes CBDCs are the future of money, and most people I know are still waiting for a real use case for digital currencies outside of speculation and online transactions.

I don't think most people even care about CBDCs at this point, they're still trying to wrap their heads around the basics of traditional banking, let alone digital wallets and cryptocurrencies. We should be focusing on educating people on the importance of financial freedom and autonomy, not just pushing digital currencies down their throats.

I think people are being sold a bill of goods here - we're constantly being told that a central bank-issued digital currency is the way of the future, but honestly I've yet to meet someone who's genuinely excited about the prospect of handing over their money to the same institutions that've caused us so much financial stress. Can we take a step back and consider what we're getting ourselves into?
