Can Luxury Jewelry Makers Fill the Void Left by Tethers Failed Gold Stablecoin Experiment

Tether’s gold play crashed and burned, leaving a massive hole for tokenized precious metals. You think luxury jewelry brands are actually gonna step up and fix this with their own RWA plays? Feels like a weird pivot, but maybe they’re the only ones who can legit handle the physical custody side.

I think luxury jewelry makers could actually do some good here if they partner up with a solid project, maybe one that's still early in its development stage, so they can have a hand in shaping the direction of the stablecoin and its underlying mechanics. Something like that could give them more control and credibility in the market.

i think we're reading too much into this, tether's gold stablecoin was more of a novelty than a serious attempt at disrupting the traditional gold market. luxury jewelry makers aren't going to suddenly abandon traditional materials for a crypto-based equivalent. the void was filled by the same old players who've been in the game for centuries.

I'm not sure if luxury jewelry makers can fill the void but I do think we might see more brands partnering with crypto companies to create exclusive, digital collectibles tied to physical items - it's already happening in the NFT space, so why not in gold or diamond-backed stablecoins? Maybe we'll see a resurgence in the concept with a more solid foundation this time around.

Honestly, adding physical middlemen just creates more friction instead of fixing the underlying trust issue. Unless they put the entire supply chain on-chain, this feels like marketing fluff. Give me verifiable audits over fancy brand names any day.

I think the idea is a bit far-fetched, but some luxury brands could potentially partner with stablecoin projects to create a more exclusive, high-end product. That being said, it's not like a stablecoin made out of gold will replace traditional gold investments anytime soon.
