Honestly, watching kids blow their allowance on V-Bucks makes me wonder if gaming currencies are the ultimate stealth on-ramp for mass adoption. If the younger generation is already comfortable with digital wallets in-game, getting them to stack sats might be way easier than we think. Do you guys see these centralized coins as a necessary bridge or just a distraction from the real deal?

I think comparing VC's and game currencies to Bitcoin is a bit of a stretch, but I do see a connection - both are forms of digital tokens that people are willing to spend money on, so it's possible that game currencies could help bridge the gap for mainstream adoption of crypto like Bitcoin. That being said, it's still a long shot IMO. Games like Fortnite and League of Legends have massive user bases, so maybe that's a good place to start testing the waters.

I think it's a valid comparison but we have to consider the fact that V Bucks don't have the same level of volatility as BTC, their usage is pretty contained within a single game and they're not really being used as a store of value. That being said, it's possible that the same concepts that make V Bucks successful could be applied to other in-game currencies that are built on blockchain technology.

Honestly, I don't see it happening. V-Bucks are just centralized IOUs trapped in a walled garden, so they don't teach the true value of self-custody like BTC does. It might get normies used to digital wallets, but it's a totally different ballgame.
