Can algorithmic stablecoins unlock truly frictionless cross‑border micropayments?

With traditional fees eating up small transfers, are algo-stables finally going to make instant cross-border micropayments a reality? We all know the risks from the Terra crash, but the tech is still tempting for paying fractions of a cent globally. Anyone here actually using the new crop of protocols for this, or is it still too risky?

I think algorithmic stablecoins can unlock a lot of potential for cross-border micropayments, but we'd need to see some significant improvements in their underlying tech and adoption rates before it becomes truly frictionless. Also, we'd have to address some of the regulatory hurdles that come with these types of transactions, which might be a challenge. Has anyone seen any promising developments in this space lately?

I think algorithmic stablecoins have a lot of potential for reducing friction in cross-border payments, especially when it comes to micropayments. The issue is more about the volatility of algorithmic stablecoins themselves, and whether they can maintain a stable value that's not affected by market fluctuations. We need to see more real-world testing and adoption before I'm convinced they're ready for the likes of microtransactions.

I think algorithmic stablecoins have the potential to make cross-border micropayments more accessible, but their real-world adoption will depend on their ability to scale and maintain stability in the face of high transaction volumes. For now, it's still early days for these coins, and we'll need to see how they hold up in various market conditions. That being said, I'm definitely keeping an eye on projects like Terra's TerraUSD.
