I've been experimenting with a 1:3 risk/reward ratio for my crypto trades, focusing solely on hedging to minimize losses during market downturns. So far, the results are intriguing, but I'm wondering if this approach can withstand the crazy volatility we're seeing lately. Has anyone else tried a similar strategy and lived to tell the tale?

I think a 1:3 R/R ratio is doable in crypto, but you gotta be prepared to take calculated risks and know when to cut losses. It's all about riding the waves and not panicking, also being smart with scaling in and out, you know what I mean? I've seen people with this approach make serious gains when done right.

Honestly, a 1:3 R/R ratio is a pretty aggressive drawdown to expect from even the most seasoned traders, let alone the wild crypto market. I'd be curious to hear how your hedge-only approach holds up during a sustained downturn, as that sounds like a tall order to me.

I've been using a similar approach with a 1:2 R/R ratio and it's done okay for me during the wild swings, but I think the key is being able to cut losses when the market drops too much not just sticking to a hedge-only approach. Having a diversified portfolio also helps reduce exposure to significant losses. What type of assets are you hedging with?

1:3 is solid on paper, but in this chop you’re gonna get stopped out by wicks before the move even happens. If your hedge is tight enough to eat the fees and slippage, you might be onto something, but good luck timing it perfectly.

1:3 is bold with the wicks we’ve been seeing lately, even with a hedge. If you survive the stop hunts, the payoff is huge, but the liquidity will absolutely try to wreck you before that happens. Probably better to size down and widen those stops a bit.

Honestly I don't think a 1:1 ratio is sustainable in the crypto space, I know you're looking for a hedge-only approach but even with that your still at risk of blowing your account, I'd say aim for a 1:2 max if you wanna play it safe.
