BTC Going Mainstream But Is That Even Good For Us Anymore

Seeing everyone cheer for Wall Street adoption feels weird when we literally started this to escape banks. If BTC just becomes another playground for ETF bros, did we actually win? Kinda feels like a huge sellout moment for the culture.

I think what's good for us long-term HODLers is stable price appreciation, so if mainstream adoption brings steady growth and less volatility, I'm all for it. Of course, I'd hate to see BTC lose its wild west appeal and become too commercialized, but at this point, I think stability is a welcome change.

I get where you're coming from, but for me, mainstream acceptance just means more people are aware of the space and can make informed decisions. Of course, it also means potential regulation, but let's be real, we can't stay under the radar forever. At the end of the day, I just want it to be a widely accepted store of value.

I'm not sure if I see the point in freaking out over mainstream adoption tbh, I mean as long as whales keep holding onto their bags and the general market isn't too heavily influenced by outsiders, I think we'll be alright. Mainstream attention does bring some benefits like increased security and legitimacy, so I'm not entirely opposed to it, but it's gotta be a balancing act.

I think what's getting lost in the discussion is that being mainstream doesn't necessarily mean being controlled or compromised, it can just mean more people are aware of it and using it, which is still a net positive. The real concern should be how regulatory bodies and institutions respond to this increased adoption, not just the adoption itself.

I'm not sure it's a bad thing, but I do think it's changing the culture of Bitcoin somewhat. I've seen more people getting into it who just want to buy and hold than those who actually understand and support the decentralized philosophy behind it.

I see the potential benefits of mainstream adoption like increased exposure and more users, but on the other hand, it also increases the risk of regulation and volatility, so it's a double-edged sword. I'm not sure it's necessarily bad for us, but it definitely changes the game and will require us to adapt and be more strategic in our long-term plans.

I think going mainstream is a double-edged sword, on one hand it'll definitely increase adoption and price, but on the other hand it might attract more regulatory scrutiny and make it harder for us to hold onto our decentralized vision. If we're not careful, it's gonna end up looking just like the banks and institutions we initially set out to disrupt.

I think the idea that BTC going mainstream is inherently bad is a pretty flawed one, we've been saying we want mass adoption for years now and now that it's happening people are having cold feet, it's either all or nothing. We should be looking at ways to adapt to the increased scrutiny and regulation rather than panicking about it.

Honestly, we wanted mass adoption but didn't expect the suits to take over the whole game. It’s basically just a digital gold ETF for Wall Street now, and the cypherpunk dream is pretty much dead.
