Title: BITCOIN DISPUTE: Exchanges vs. Wallet Providers - Who's Truly Responsible for Lost Funds?

Hey guys, I started buying into crypto a few months ago, but my experience with a major exchange has left a bad taste in my mouth. I sent some BTC to their hot wallet, but they claimed it was a mistake on my end when I tried to withdraw it. Now I'm wondering, are exchanges truly responsible for user funds or is that on the wallet providers?

"Lol at people trying to blame one side or the other. In my opinion, it's 90% user error. Either you send from the wrong address or fail to back up your wallet."

"Dude, this is a no-brainer – the onus is on users to protect themselves. You can't blame exchanges or wallet providers for users being careless with their 2FA or seed phrases. If we can't take responsibility for our own security, who can?"

"Not trying to defend either side, but IMO exchanges have more liability since they're handling the funds directly. Wallet providers just store your private keys, ultimately, it's the user's responsibility to keep those keys safe. Anyone else think exchanges should do more to prevent/compensate for lost funds?"
