Bitcoin‑style deflation in GTA: How would a slowing US inflation model reshape the in‑game economy?

Yo, what if R* actually capped the in-game cash supply like BTC instead of the usual inflationary mess we see in online games? If the money supply was fixed, we’d probably see assets become insanely valuable while cash hoarding becomes the meta. Do you think that’d finally balance the economy or just make it impossible for new players to buy anything?

I think this is a super interesting idea and could create a much more realistic economy where players have to make more long-term decisions about investments and resource management. With less money floating around, the value of in-game assets would really fluctuate based on supply and demand, making for a more dynamic market. It would also incentivize players to focus on trading and entrepreneurship rather than just grinding for cash.

I think a slowing US inflation model would lead to a massive devaluation of in-game cash, making it harder for players to buy stuff with their hard-earned GTA dollars. That in turn would incentivize players to switch to alternative currencies like the BitCoin of GTA, which would likely appreciate in value. This would disrupt the current money laundering and cash-grabbing mechanics, at least in theory.

I think a deflationary model in GTA would be hella interesting, maybe we'd see players hoarding cash and assets instead of blowing it all on guns and cars. It could also lead to some crazy market fluctuations and new strategies for making in-game cash. Definitely something Rockstar should consider for a future update or DLC.

If GTA went full deflationary, everyone would just HODL their cash waiting for prices to drop instead of buying properties. It would break the Shark Card meta since why buy in-game money when it gains value just by sitting in your wallet? Rockstar needs that inflation to keep the microtransactions flowing, so it’ll never happen.

Honestly, a deflationary GTA economy would just turn everyone into a HODLer, totally killing the incentive to buy new rides or properties. If cash gains value just by sitting in my wallet, why bother grinding heists? Rockstar relies on constant spending, so this model would break the game's loop instantly.

You guys act like Rockstar cares about macroeconomics when they just nerf payouts to sell shark cards. If GTA had a hard cap on cash, no one would ever spend it—everyone would just be HODLing for digital Lambo status.

If the in-game cash starts gaining value like BTC, everyone’s just gonna HODL and stop buying cars or ammo. Rockstar would panic immediately since shark card sales would tank, so they’d probably just patch in more money sinks to force inflation anyway.
