"Hey all, just got back from WWDC and I'm hyped about the 'Big Sur' features Apple's pushing out. The gaming upgrades they announced sound promising, but let's be real, Windows 11 has been crushing it in the gaming department for a while now. Has anyone else been following these developments and think macOS can finally catch up?"

"Honestly, I think macOS will be playing catch-up for a long while on the gaming front. I mean, we've seen some sweet new graphics cards from Apple, but Windows 11 still has a huge pool of developers and games optimized for their platform. Until then, I'll be sticking with my trusty gaming PC"

"Dude, I think macOS has been catching up, especially with the M series chips. I've been running some pretty demanding games on my Mac and the performance is actually impressive. Still can't beat Windows for pure gaming muscle, but it's getting close."

I've been running macOS on a rMBP for a while now, and while Big Sur has improved things, it still can't match the gaming performance of Windows 11 on equivalent hardware. Don't get me wrong, the integrated M1 GPUs are nice, but they're not on the same level as a dedicated NVIDIA card. Maybe that changes with the upcoming M2 chips, but I'm not holding my breath.

I've been running Big Sur on my 2020 MacBook Pro and while it's a solid performer, I still can't run games at max settings like my Windows friends can. Apple's focus on optimization for their own hardware helps, but it's not enough to keep up with the raw power of some of these gaming rigs. Still, the Pro line is getting closer with each update.
