Are modern GPU rigs actually capable of cracking Bitcoin private keys in practice?

I keep seeing clickbait about modern GPU farms brute-forcing BTC wallets, but isn't the keyspace still way too massive for that to be feasible? Like, even with a warehouse full of 4090s, aren't the odds still basically zero? Just wondering if there's some new tech I missed or if it's all just a pipe dream.

Honestly, we're seeing some advancements in GPU-based proof-of-work solutions that do allow for some brute-forcing, but the scale and complexity of Bitcoin's algorithms make it extremely difficult to crack keys in practice. Plus, the power consumption and costs associated with running such a rig would be massive, so I think it's more of a theoretical possibility than a real-world reality.

Honestly, from what I've seen, these GPU rigs are more hype than reality, especially when it comes to cracking private keys - I mean, the math is just too complex and the computational power required is astronomical. Plus, most people use hardware wallets nowadays which are far more secure than trying to brute-force your way in. Not saying it's impossible, but you'd need a massive setup to even think about succeeding.

Honestly, I think it's highly unlikely that modern GPU rigs can crack Bitcoin private keys in practice unless they're specifically designed for it, and even then it's not worth the effort given the computational power required. I mean, Bitcoin's ECDSA implementation is pretty secure and any attempt to brute force would take an exponentially long time, even with top-of-the-line GPUs.

I dont think so, the math just doesnt add up, even with top tier rigs you're talking about absurdly long bruteforce times. Ive seen some estimates that put it at thousands of years to crack a single key, not exactly practical for anyone. Maybe with some crazy advanced quantum tech but not with todays GPUs

Nah, you'd have better luck winning the lottery while getting struck by lightning. The key space is so massive that even stacking every GPU on the planet wouldn't make a dent. It's a total pipe dream, mate.

Nah, you’d have a better chance of getting hit by lightning twice today than cracking a key with GPUs. The keyspace is astronomically huge, so brute-forcing is basically impossible with current tech. Don't waste your time or electricity on that pipe dream.

Bro, you literally have a better chance of getting struck by lightning while winning the lottery. The address space is so massive that even a warehouse full of 4090s wouldn't make a dent in a billion years.

No way, the search space is literally bigger than the number of atoms in the observable universe. You’d have a better chance of winning the lottery every day for a century than brute-forcing a random key.

I've seen some claims of GPU rigs cracking Bitcoin keys, but from what I've researched, the time required is still ridiculous, we're talking years if not decades even with top-end hardware. Not to mention the power consumption would be through the roof, making it a financially unviable way to go about it. I'd love to see some real-world examples of successful key cracking with modern GPUs.

Nah, not a chance—the keyspace is literally astronomical. Even if you had every GPU on Earth, you'd need billions of years to brute force a single wallet, so save your cash on the electric bill.
