Hey fellow cryptoholics, I think it's time to talk about the elephant in the room - why WhatsApp and SMS still reign supreme for crypto transactions. I mean, these ancient systems have been around forever, and yet they're still the go-to for a lot of people. Has anyone else noticed that even some big players still rely on this outdated tech?

Honestly, I think the biggest hurdle is just widespread adoption and regulation. We've got the tech, but people are still hesitant to use crypto for everyday transactions. Until we get more mainstream recognition, we'll be stuck in the slow lane.

"Not holding my breath for those traditional methods to catch up with crypto's growth. We need something way more efficient and scalable. Maybe we should focus on developing our own payment gateways?"

"I'm with OP here, WhatsApp and SMS have been reliable for crypto transactions for me too. It's convenient to just receive a code via WhatsApp and complete the setup, no need to deal with complex QR codes or hardware wallets. Has anyone else noticed any issues with this method lately?"

"I see what you're saying, but for me, it's all about simplicity and trust. I've been using my cell phone number for crypto transactions, and it's never failed me. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing some newer, more secure alternatives emerge."

"I mean, we've been saying this for ages, but it's crazy that WhatsApp and SMS still work for crypto transactions. I think part of the reason is that it's been around for so long and most people are used to it at this point. It's gonna take a lot to get people to switch over to something new and more secure."

"Lol, yeah I get what you're saying, but honestly, I've tried some crypto-friendly messaging apps like Signal and they're solid. No reason why we can't see widespread adoption of secure, low-fee crypto messaging platforms."

Honestly, it's crazy that we're still relying on WhatsApp and SMS for crypto transactions. I'm hoping someone develops a better solution soon, like a dedicated crypto chat app that's more secure. We need something with better scalability and lower fees.

I get where you're coming from, but let's not forget that SMS-based 2FA is already a thing for many exchanges, and it's pretty convenient tbh. I'd rather have a reliable, low-tech method for 2FA than some fancy, but potentially hackable, biometric method. What do you guys think about the trade-offs?

"Still waiting on those SMS and WhatsApp payment confirmations to be fully adopted. I think it's mainly a security and regulatory thing - don't wanna risk users' funds getting compromised. Would love to see more seamless UX though."
