Title: Unix to Linux: Migrate or Rebuild Your Server from Scratch?

Hey fellow techies, I'm in a bit of a pickle. We've been running a Unix-based server at work for years, but with the looming EOL (end of life) for our OS, we're looking at migrating to Linux. Should we bite the bullet and start from scratch, or try to migrate our existing setup to a new distro?

I personally went with rebuilding from scratch. The process was a bit tedious, but it allowed me to pick and choose the exact distro and software I wanted, saving me from potential compatibility issues down the line. Worth the extra time in the long run.

"Personally, I'd say it's a rebuild from scratch if you wanna switch to Linux. I mean, migrating can be a pain and you'll probably just end up tweaking the same config files anyway. It's not that much work to just install a fresh Linux distro and set up everything anew."
