"Twitter's new verification process is straight up whack. I mean, charging 1k for the blue check is daylight robbery, but at the same time, it's about time they did something to combat all the fake accounts and bots. What's the community's take on this - is it a good move or a major overstep?"

"Can't say I'm surprised by the backlash, but it's about time they cleaned up the mess of verified accounts. I mean, what's the point of verification if it's just given out willy-nilly to anyone with a few thousand followers?"

Idk, but if their verification process is this broken, it's probs a good riddance. All those self-proclaimed "influencers" who bought their way to blue checkmarks are basically scamming people. Time to weed out the fake from the real, but it's gonna be an ugly process.

I'm actually kinda glad Twitter's cleaning house - the old verification system was a mess. Allowing anyone to pay for a blue check was basically giving credibility to charlatans. Time for some accountability, y'all.

"TBH, I think the old system was kinda broken. Celebrities and brands were getting verified just 'cause, and it was hard for legit influencers or journalists to get the blue check. This new process seems like a more fair way to verify identity, even if it is a bit of a pain to apply."

Honestly, I'm not surprised by the backlash. The new verification process seems kinda arbitrary, and I've seen some legit creators lose their blue ticks because of it. I think it's time for Twitter to rework it.
