Title: Should Layer 2 Scaling Be Implemented on Existing Blockchains or Built from Scratch?

"I think it's crazy not to implement L2 scaling on existing chains, the benefits of increased capacity and lower fees far outweigh any potential drawbacks. Most layer 2 solutions are built on existing protocols, so why not just integrate them into the main chain? Has anyone seen any instances where a custom-built L2 solution has outperformed an integrated one?"

Honestly, I think building L2 scaling from scratch is the way forward. Existing blockchains are often limited by their underlying architecture, so trying to shoehorn L2 solutions into those structures can be a real challenge. It's like trying to add a V8 engine to a old Honda Civic - it's gonna be a hack.

I'm all for building it from scratch. Existing blockchains have too much baggage to effectively integrate new features like L2 scaling. It's better to reboot with a clean slate and avoid compatibility issues.

I think existing blockchains could definitely benefit from layer 2 scaling, but it's not always a straightforward implementation. Some of the newer chains like Solana and Polkadot seem to have it figured out, while Ethereum's still working out the kinks. Maybe a hybrid approach would be the way to go?
