Title: Should Blockchain Scalability Trump Security?

Hey guys, just had a convo with a friend who's a dev at a popular crypto project and it got me thinking... how important is scalability compared to security in blockchain? If we prioritize scalability, are we essentially sacrificing security, and if so, is it worth it for the sake of more mainstream adoption? What's your take on this?

Honestly, I don't think it's a question of either/or - we can have secure and scalable blockchain solutions. Some of the newer consensus algorithms like Ouroboros and Snowflake are giving me hope that we can have the best of both worlds. Security shouldn't be sacrificed just for the sake of scale.
